3 Tips for a Mental Recharge

You can, in fact, accomplish more by taking time out of your day to recharge your brain. We sometimes fail to understand that recovery is the key to resilience! It doesn’t call for less effort or even less time, and it certainly doesn’t mean sleeping in or sitting idly in the sun. Here are three quick tips for mental recharge:

1. Invest in Yourself
Rest and recovery are not the same. Spend at least 10% of each day on personal development. Investing in yourself could look like exercise, reading a book, cooking something new, or even cleaning. Maybe those adult coloring books are your thing! Give yourself permission to pause and refocus on an activity that gives as much energy as it takes.

2. Find an Ally
All you really need is one solid ally. Ask yourself, who can I speak freely to? Who can I trust? It’s a sort of release and recovery to vent and relate to someone who is looking out for your best interest – someone who holds you accountable. Share your victories too! You’re allowed to celebrate the wins.

3. Focus on What You Want
You know that headspace where all you can think about is how much you don’t want to be doing whatever it is that you’re doing? Stop trying to muscle through it. Instead, focus on what you want. If you want a break, give yourself 15-30 minutes to take a walk, get coffee, or talk about something other than work.

If you’re still struggling, shift your thinking. Maybe you don’t want to do the task at hand, but do you want to feel that rush that comes from a job well done? Do you want your work to make a difference? Work toward that. Struggling to start? Learn about the power of new beginnings on our blog!
